Introduction to the Citizen Portal¶
The Citizen Portal facilitates the process of an Organization, for example Municipalities, engaging with citizens. It can often be hard for organizations to look after large areas and with many people moving to online platforms, having your own platform to communicate and have control over is required.
The Citizen Portal fills this bridge by allowing citizens to subscribe/follow certain organizations who provide notices and news to those subscribed.
Having members in the community being able to notify issues such as graffiti or local vandalism will help speed up the process
of getting these issues solved as well as ensuring that the organization is made aware sooner rather than having someone try to call, email, or send a letter to municipalities.
The Citizen Portal will allow casual mobile literate citizens to quickly interact with a traditionally formal organization. Consequently, the application will have little or no learning curve, and the user interface will be as intuitive as possible. Thus, technical expertise and mobile experience should not be an issue. Instead, anticipated citizens can be defined by how they will use the product in a particular situation.
The Citizen Portal is composed of two main components, a mobile app that runs on Android and iOS devices, and a browser application which will allow adminsitrators to support and maintain various client-side features.
